Cátia Leitão is a Portuguese dancer, performer and researcher in dance.
Today lives in lisbon (PT).
She has spent the last two years in Rio de Janeiro doing a Post Graduation in Contemporary Studies (UERJ), where she develops the investigation: The will of things - modes of "resistance" to biopolitical power through dance, ecology and collective practices in articulation with Real Time Composition | Operativo_and mode, developed by João fiadeiro and Fernanda Eugenio. Scholarship by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.
Before, she attended to the Program Study, Research and Choreographic Creation in Forum Dança - Départs Scholarship- and made Superior School of dance - Portuguese governmental scholarship.
Lately she is dedicated to improvisation, ancestral, psychedelic and somatic practices, theory of the collectives, yoga and love matters.
Now she is with 2 authorship projects: The will of things and Something good will come, this last in co-creation with Andre Uerba.
Working also as artistic collaboration and group coordination in "Atlas" by Ana Borralho and João Galante in Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, Poland, Switzerland, Hungary, Iceland, Canada, Brazil, etc.
Previously presented her hown work in the yound artists Festival (PT) and Teatro Pim OFF (IT); "Why not be political, moral, ethically simple and go for it" (PT), "Time of things" (PT) co-authored with Urândia Aragão, "Construção" (IT) co-authored with Mariana Pimentel ( BR).
Since May 2013, coordinating the Real Time Composition research group in Brazil - Rio de Janeiro, along with Catarina Resende and Mariana Pimentel.
